Easy For Keeps
(A Boudreaux Novella)
by Kristen Proby
Adam Spencer loves women. All women. Every shape and size, regardless of hair or eye color, religion or race, he simply enjoys them all. Meeting more than his fair share as the manager and head bartender of The Odyssey, a hot spot in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, Adam’s comfortable with his lifestyle, and sees no reason to change it. A wife and kids, plus the white picket fence are not in the cards for this confirmed bachelor. Until a beautiful woman, and her sweet princess, literally knock him on his ass.
Sarah Cox has just moved to New Orleans, having accepted a position as a social worker specializing in at-risk women and children. It’s a demanding, sometimes dangerous job, but Sarah is no shy wallflower. She can handle just about anything that comes at her, even the attentions of one sexy Adam Spencer. Just because he’s charmed her daughter, making her think of magical kingdoms with happily ever after, doesn’t mean that Sarah believes in fairy tales. But the more time she spends with the enchanting man, the more he begins to sway her into believing in forever.
Even so, when Sarah’s job becomes more dangerous than any of them bargained for, will she be ripped from Adam’s life forever?

I loved Sarah and Adam together! The chemistry between them is positively delicious. How did you choose them for this novella?
Thank you! When I wrote Easy Melody, I knew that Callie’s best friend Adam would need a story. Who can resist a serial womanizer? And who better to knock him on his ass than a single mom and her adorable little girl?
Once again you have an element of suspense and action to this story, and I loved it. Is it difficult to weave that into a romance?
I love adding a touch of action or suspense! I hope to do more of it in the future. It can be a challenge, but I think it adds a fun extra dimension to the story.
You’re so positive on social media and always make so many people smile. Is there one piece of advice for a new author on how to overcome any on-line negativity?
Thank you for that. You know, I think the key is to ignore a lot and pick your battles. It’s easy to get sucked into drama if that’s something you thrive on. I don’t. Most of the time I’m not even aware that any drama has taken place, and that’s how I like it. So, I just keep my blinders on.
Ok, I’m dying to know if John (Kristen’s amazing boyfriend) has read any of your books! Haha!
You know, he’s not exactly in my targeted demographic of readers. But he has read Easy Love, because he loves me and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. He enjoyed it! But I think he’ll be sticking with Sci-Fi. 😉
I read your post the other day about snacking while writing and I have to know, what are some of your fave things to snack on (I’m also a snacker while working btw)?
Yes, unfortunately I like to nibble while I write. I usually have a hard candy around, like Sweetarts to chew on. I also love Swedish fish and sometimes I need something salty like salt and vinegar chips. Let’s face it, I’m not picky.
Can you give us a hint as to what you’re working on next?
I’m currently finishing up Easy Kisses, then I’ll be writing the third novel in the new Fusion series, Blush for Me. ☺
Ok, so for 2016 I am going to be playing Mad Libs with the 1,001 Dark Nights authors for a bit of fun! Here is the list of words needed for your Mad Libs titled: How to go to Sleep:
If you have trouble falling asleep, you probably have a silly mind. You must learn to relax so you will have a happy mind instead. First drink a cup of hot tea and stretch out on a delightful bed in an excellent position. Then, breathe randomly and think about something beautiful, such as warm cats. Do not think about your passionate enemies or entertain any other nautical thoughts. Concentrate on something restful, such as trees, which will make your car more relaxed, or count imaginary shoes jumping over a handbag. Follow these lazy rules and you will fall into an honest sleep the minute your lips hit the pillow.
