For our new trope collection releases, we thought we’d do a little something different with our author Q&A section and give you a glimpse into the writers personal trope faves! (And occasionally a peek at their writing spaces and pets!). We hope you enjoy!

Audrey Carlan (MADAM ALANA)

What is your favorite thing about (the trope you’ve been included in)?

Who doesn’t love a good wedding or four? <grin> I love arranged marriage and marriage of convenience because it allows me to play with character conflict. Not to mention the “honeymoon” phase is a lot more fun with complete strangers.

What trope have you not written yet but want to?

I haven’t written mafia romance…yet! I’m looking forward to trying something new this year!

Carly Phillips (TAKE THE BRIDE)

What is your favorite thing about (the trope you’ve been included in)?

Since I love happily ever afters, writing in VOWS AND VEILS: A CELEBRATION OF LOVE COLLECTION let’s me focus on my favorite part of a Romance, the I love you at the end!

What trope have you not written yet but want to?

I have always thought about writing MC (Motorcycle Club) romance but honestly that is not my style. I love reading it but I’m pretty sure I won’t be writing one. That said, I’ve recently learned never say never!

Tina Folsom (SILENT BITE)

What is your favorite thing about (the trope you’ve been included in)?

Weddings are such magical events. I love the fact that so many people come together to celebrate two people’s love and commitment to each other. And it opens up so many possibilities for new relationships to spring up: an usher meets a bridesmaid; a distant cousin finally meets her match; one-night stands can turn into life-long love. Of course, there are also so many other beautiful things about weddings: the mishaps that can happen with food and clothing that are always worth a laugh, then tension between warring family members and estranged children, parents, and partners. So much food for a writer to draw upon.

What trope have you not written yet but want to?

I’ve written over 50 books since I started my career as a romance author, and have incorporated many tropes into my novels. One of my favorites is definitely enemies to lovers. And though I’ve written at least one enemies to lovers novel (Demon Unleashed), I would love to write more in that trope. I’ve never written a friends to lovers trope, but I have plans for one in my Scanguards Vampires series. It will be a challenge, since I’m so used to writing about lovers who barely know each other. It’ll be very different to write about two people who’re friends and then become lovers. Fingers crossed that I’ll get it right.
